New to Cast Forward? Here’s What You Need to Know (Especially About Casting Notices)

Welcome! If this is your first time reading a Cast Forward casting roundup, I want to make sure everything is super clear—because Cast Forward is not a casting platform. It’s something far more valuable. Click here to learn all about it.

🚨IMPORTANT INFORMATION🚨

This is a U.S. casting notice. Some of these projects shoot outside the U.S. and require local hires. If you’re based outside the U.S., reach out to your representative or local casting directors to find out who is casting those projects in your region.

If you are not a U.S. citizen and do not have valid U.S. work authorization (such as an O-1 visa or EB-1A green card), please do not submit to the American casting directors.

Submitting without the proper paperwork can harm your professional reputation with casting directors and may affect future opportunities.

Also, please note: some U.S. productions shoot in other countries, but that does not mean the American casting team is handling those local roles in those countries. We often don’t know who is casting those parts internationally.

TO BE CLEAR: If you’re based outside the U.S., it’s best to contact local casting directors in your city to inquire about potential involvement or ask your agent or representative to do so. Do not reach out to the American casting directors to ask about roles in your region—this is seen as unprofessional and can hurt your standing in the industry.

Always respect Cast Forward submission guidelines and demonstrate professionalism.

Please note that casting moves quickly—some roles may have already been filled, while others may not. This gives you the advantage of reaching out early. However, don’t get discouraged—casting often continues even after a film has begun shooting, especially for smaller parts.

If you’re represented, let them pitch you—this is something my representative always does, whether the breakdown is up or not.

PAY ATTENTION: Some casting directors are working on multiple projects, so be sure to research their current work and tailor your email accordingly.

When reaching out to casting, NEVER attach your headshot and reel. Instead, do this:

“Here’s a quick look at my recent work: [Insert link—never attachments]”

Keep your email short and to the point. If you’re unsure how to write it, check out Section 4: Craft Emails That Command Attention and Want to Master the Art of Cold Emails? Here’s the Ultimate Guide for Actors.

⚠️ A quick reminder: Please don’t spam casting directors with emails. If you can’t get in touch, let your representation handle it.

In the Casting Details section, you’ll find details on when each project is set to start shooting.

We include all publicly available details we can find—whether it’s the synopsis or casting details. Additionally, Cast Forward provides extra insights based on our expertise, including Casting Director Insights, Casting Focus, and Advice for Actors, along with publicly available social media links (to ensure you have every opportunity to connect with casting. Engaging with them on their public social media accounts is a great way to build a relationship over time and other helpful information, all designed to give you the best shot at getting Cast Forward!
